Unique and Exciting: Project Thunderball

Something unique and exciting is in the works at CRN. Project Thunderball, M/Y 145. The design, naval architecture, engineering, and construction of this 70-metre steel and aluminium superyacht are all one-of-a-kind and unique.

The CRN M/Y 145 is the result of a collaborative effort between the CRN shipyard, which oversaw the design and construction; Vripack, which created the yacht's exterior lines and naval architecture; and the Nauta Design studio, which was responsible for the yacht's interior design and outdoor furnishings.

The sale was finalised in August 2022, and since then, Y.CO has been serving as the owner's representative and project management team, assisting the owner with everything from project management to on-site supervision and coordination of external contractors to technical checks, inspections, and acceptance.

This new yacht's remarkable sense of elegance stems from her timeless, classic design, which is a direct reflection of the owner's concept for a vessel that is conducive to relaxing, introspective voyages.

This boat has the classic extended bow, sleek lines of a sailboat, a low profile, and a smooth surface. The bilges are curved, and the bottom is smooth. The whole thing was meticulously planned to maximise efficiency and ease of use when at sea. The owner is an avid sailor; therefore, in addition to the main yacht, he will also receive a smaller sailboat. The superyacht will travel between Florida and the Bahamas, stopping in the Mediterranean, where it will serve as a home base for scuba diving, sailing, and deep-sea fishing.

With a length of 70 metres, a width of 11 metres, and a gross tonnage of 1,100, the CRN M/Y 145 can host up to 12 guests in addition to its 15-person crew.

The notion of Thunderball's interior design transcends both fad and time. It thoroughly reinterprets these elements from the perspective of the most up-to-date lifestyle trends, expressing a culture of the sea via a refined collection of details, a legacy merged with a polished contemporary design. Combining a maritime perspective with top-notch craftsmanship results in a new standard of sailing excellence.

By using peak shaving technology to boost energy efficiency and decrease fuel consumption, the CRN M/Y 145 carries on the shipyard's commitment to sustainability.

In addition to the 70-metre CRN M/Y 145, three more full-custom CRN yachts—the 72-metre CRN M/Y 139, the 67-metre CRN M/Y 143, and the 85-metre CRN M/Y 144—are being built at the Ferretti Group's multi-brand Superyacht Yard in Ancona, a nearly 80,000-square-metre facility. In addition, it is constructing the first aluminium-hulled Custom Line Navetta 50, Pershing 140#04, and a 54-metre Riva Superyacht Division vessel. There are now 27 boats in various stages of construction in the sheds and at the quays for completion, testing, and delivery to their different owners and project teams that make up the Custom Line fibreglass line.
