Seascape Artist, Nina Brooke in the Maldives.

Luxury seascape artist Nina Brooke will be staying at the InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort this autumn to draw inspiration from the resort's location near some of the world's most beautiful tropical beaches. From November 26th to December 8th, Brooke will be in residence, during which time she will lead a series of informal art classes for resort guests, take on commissions on the spot, and, at the end of her stay, hold an exhibition of her newly made work on the island's dunes.

Guests will be invited to sip and search for a unique souvenir wandering around an exhibition of Brooke’s work from her stay. For the resort's in-villa decorations, Brooke will also create a special piece in honor of The Manta Trust, the resort's long-term partner. As the resort that aspires to capture the island's limitless ocean views, cherished marine life, and surrounding nature from the air and ground, InterContinental Maldives is pleased to welcome Brooke.

Located on the southernmost tip of Raa Atoll, the resort is close to a juvenile manta ray gathering location and a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, and it actively promotes manta ray research and implements its own sustainable trash efforts and recycling programmes. The resort is the world's first and only all-Club InterContinental property, and it has a wide range of five-star Maldivian amenities, including overwater villas, an adults-only section, and a serene spa, as well as several lavish complementary amenities. The resort combines the tranquility of a boutique hotel with the amenities of a world-class resort, with 81 villas and apartments located on the beach, in a lagoon, and above the sea.

Acclaimed British artist Nina Brooke was reared in a coastal community in Cornwall. She captures the English shoreline at home, but she also travels the world in search of artistic inspiration, visiting places like the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Costa Rica. In addition to exhibiting her art at Cork St., London, with Lucien Freud and Howard Hodgkin, Brooke attended Oxford Brookes and Falmouth Art Schools as well as Newlyn Art School.

Brooke will be teaching both children and adults how to draw, paint, and otherwise express themselves creatively. Bookings are accepted and subject to availability upon arrival.

Brooke plans to spend her two weeks at the resort photographing the island and drawing inspiration from the island's stunning landscape. Landscapes and coastlines from all around the resort will be depicted on canvas. At the conclusion of the residence, a pop-up exhibition will be set up for visitors to view and purchase.

Brooke will give a one-of-a-kind chance to guests who want to turn a photo into a hand-painted canvas art work by painting the photo in her own manner. Couples and families alike will have something very special to remember their time at the resort with.

Brooke plans to leave the Manta Trust a special, one-of-a-kind piece of artwork. The resort's store will sell the artwork, and all proceeds will go to the Manta Trust. Researchers at the resort spend their time teaching visitors and doing research on the island's year-round population of Manta Rays.
