Radford Motors Delivers its First Type 62-2.

At the famous Monterey Car Week in California, Radford Motors, the automaker spearheading a resurgence in the craft of coachbuilding, proudly announced the successful delivery of the company's first Type 62-2 personal commission model. This unique car, which Radford painstakingly created to the client's exact specifications, is a testament to the company's dedication to classic style and individualised transportation.

The Radford Type 62-2 personal custom is an all-bespoke design that skillfully combines contemporary aesthetics with odes to motor racing's illustrious past. Owner Shashi Reddy worked extensively with Radford's designer to construct an automobile that was exclusively his.

A homage to motorsport history may be seen in the exterior's deep blue top finish, which was used on the D-type XKD 606 that won the 1957 Le Mans 24 Hours race. The car's unique silver-painted wheel centre and rim, as well as the classy satin chrome mirror caps and tailpipes, were echoed by the choice of silver for the lower. The brake callipers on the personal commission were black, making the ideal contrast.

Shashi opted to utilise satin chrome mirrors for the switch bezels and jewellery in the car's interior, which is also fully custom. Every view reveals the meticulous attention to detail.

Silver pearl semi-aniline leather was utilised for the lower environment, handbrake handle, and gear selector panel, while silver pearl nubuck was used for the top environment to create an open and airy feeling in the cockpit.

Shashi initially became interested in the brand because of the car's design, despite the fact that critics praise the Radford Type 62-2 for its breathtaking high-performance driving abilities.

“The moment I saw the first pictures of the Radford Type 62-2, I found the design utterly intriguing. You don’t find many car shapes that just catch your eye in that way,” Shashi explained. “Today, there are a lot of choices for expensive cars, and as someone who has been collecting them for twenty years, I look to find something special about every single one.

“With the Radford Type 62-2, I was particularly captivated by the aesthetics of the car’s front nose and the rear clamshell. Plus, the fact that the team is using underpinnings from Lotus but then modifying these into a new car was something I found very appealing too.”

The design of Shashi's automobile was entirely based on his personal tastes. Each Type 62-2 is a highly conceived, cutting-edge design that respects tradition thanks to tight collaboration between Radford and each buyer. Every Radford owner enjoys the singular experience of being able to meticulously customise their vehicle to their exact needs. Each Radford vehicle is a unique work of automobile performance art, with no two ever being similar. Each automobile is tuned to perfection and offers a distinct personal statement for each customer in addition to an unmatched driving experience.

Jenson Button, Radford Co-Founder and 2009 Formula One World Champion: “The delivery of the first Type 62-2 personal commission marks the next step in Radford’s journey. We strive to honour our unique, iconic heritage and our contemporary brand values with every vehicle we make.
