Mercedes‑Maybach: “the very best of the very best”

Since Wilhelm and Karl Maybach first started producing automobiles in 1921, the MercedesMaybach brand has been universally regarded as the pinnacle of automotive luxury, style, and prestige. They set out to make "the finest of the best," an aspiration that has remained at the core of the Mercedes-Maybach brand's identity since its inception. When it comes to the extraordinary, this legendary name never settles for anything less than the best. Since its introduction to the public in 2021, sales of the current generation Mercedes-Maybach S-Class have increased consistently.

"With our first plug-in hybrid model, we are combining the luxury experience typical of Maybach with emission-free local driving when in electric driving mode. The Mercedes‑Maybach S 580 e represents a pivotal step in the transformation of our heritage brand into an electric future. We will present our first fully electric model as early as 2023." Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes‑Maybach at Mercedes‑Benz Group AG

The Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e provides a new level of quiet that is truly breathtaking. The already very quiet cabin is even more so in its full electric driving mode. The car travels almost inaudibly and produces no local emissions. Like the hidden charging socket on the left side of the vehicle and the blue colour accents in the headlights or the battery charging status in the instrument panel, electric-specific features are seamlessly incorporated with typical Maybach expertise.

Mercedes-current Benz's iteration of inline six-cylinder petrol engines serves as the hybrid drive's foundation, boasting a potent 270 kW/367 hp while maintaining low fuel consumption and emissions. The system's combined output of 375 kW/510 hp and maximal torque of 750 Nm ensures top-notch handling and acceleration. 440 Nm of peak torque from the electric motor is accessible from the very first rotation of the engine, allowing for quick acceleration and responsive handling. From zero to one hundred kilometres per hour, the Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e needs only 5.1 seconds.

The usual configuration includes a charger with an output of 11 kW for use with three-phase AC wall outlets. An optional 60 kilowatt direct current (DC) converter can be used for rapid recharging. A full charge can be obtained using the latter in about 30 minutes, even if the cell is nearly empty to begin with.
