Mauritius is One of The Top 3 Trending Destinations in 2023.
Starting on October 29, 2023, Air Mauritius will relocate its operations from London Heathrow Airport to London Gatwick Airport, increasing the frequency of its flights to London from five weekly to a daily service. According to a survey by Trip Advisor, Mauritius will be one of the top three trending destinations in 2023, thus the news will please British travellers and second-home buyers.
Over 1.3 million people visit Mauritius every year to take in the island's blue waters, lush tropical scenery, and luxurious hotels. The island is also a desirable area to call home or purchase a vacation property. There will have been 1,198 British citizens granted residency in Mauritius between 2014 and 2022; of them, 11% will be pensioners.
The great quality of life and the year-round sunlight of 2,900 hours are major draws, but so too are the excellent infrastructure, services, and healthcare system that are on par with the rest of the world. There is no inheritance or wealth tax, no foreign currency controls, no capital gains tax, and foreign ownership of property is permitted, among other tax benefits.
Heritage Villas Valriche, the premier resort community in Bel Ombre, Mauritius, has welcomed the additional flights and is optimistic that the island's increased accessibility will entice more people to make Mauritius their permanent or temporary home.
Located in the protected south of Mauritius, Heritage Villas Valriche is a group of 288 luxury villas currently in its last phase of building.
Sales Manager Christophe Piquet says: “The additional flights are a bonus and makes the island even more accessible. With only a 3 hour time difference between us and the UK there is no jet lag when you travel here, and that also makes working from here easier too.”
