First-Ever Two-Tone Bentayga EWB.

The first-ever, eye-catching, and highly customised duo-tone Bentayga EWB Azure V8 has been delivered to its eager owners. It was meticulously constructed by Bentley's bespoke and customisation division, Mulliner.

The car is a spectacular example of a really unique Bentley, the product of the freedom that a Mulliner commission offers. It is an example of the rising trend among Bentley clients for customised commissions. One of the owners' special requests was a custom two-tone exterior treatment, which prompted Bentley Motors to delay the release of the two-tone finishes for the Bentayga EWB by a full year.

Beyond the tens of billions of features that may be chosen from the Bentley options list, Mulliner refers to the process as "co-curation" in which Bentley clients are invited to take part in the creation of special cars. In the Mulliner workshops, their team of talented artisans and designers love challenges such as vibrant colour schemes, special features, and bespoke materials.

A commission for a Bentayga EWB from a couple in Irvine, California, serves as an example of how Mulliner's Bentley evolved. When the buyers first came to Bentley Newport Beach, they wanted to order a Bentayga EWB Azure V8 First Edition. They wanted to choose from among the 46 billion possible combinations of external and interior colours for the car.

However, Phill Dean, Mulliner's design manager, quickly encouraged the pair to let their ideas run wild. Though they thought Kingfisher, a stunning metallic electric blue finish, needed an opposing exterior hue to go with the Blackline design requirements, they were immediately drawn to it. After discussing the possibility of a duo-tone, discussions with Bentley's Paint Shop started the process of pushing back the release date of this option for the Bentayga EWB by a year.

“With a Mulliner commission, anything is possible,” explains Dean. “We started to discuss the specification in the showroom at Newport Beach, but it soon became clear that we needed more time to go over every tiny detail. We resumed the commissioning at the customers’ home - we finished at around 1.00 am” he recalls.

The customers commissioned a unique and eye-catching Bentayga EWB, with a duo-tone exterior of Onyx over Kingfisher Blue designed to glimmer in the California sun. Satisfied to let the winged B logo speak for itself, the pair requested rear privacy glass and the removal of Bentley writing from the tailboard after establishing a baseline specification of the Azure wellness-focused package, replete with Blackline and Touring requirements.

The Blackline specification's gloss black grille, front air intakes, wing vents, side coachlines, and rear diffuser all blend in well with the Onyx finish that was selected for the bonnet, roof, and upper body. It stands out dramatically against the Kingfisher blue paint, and the black roof and cabin give off a sportier, lower-key aesthetic. The 22" ten-spoke wheels in Kingfisher and Beluga paint finishes have the same colour split. Bentley wheel badges that level themselves out give the appearance the last touch.

This exquisite Bentayga EWB's interior is equally striking as it is expertly designed, and clients spent many hours working with Phill Dean to choose their colour scheme. The four-seat arrangement with the two rear seats according to Bentley's airline seat specifications, the Naim audio system for Bentley, and mood lighting were among their options.

The clients' own interpretation of luxury, with a cabin in the striking mix of Mandarin and Imperial Blue leather, is more colourful. Open Pore Koa Veneer, which is light, modern, and sustainable, was used for the picnic tables, door inners, rear centre console, and fascia. The most striking feature, though, are the flashes of Kingfisher accent hide that are found on the door trim, lower fascia, six-o'clock tab on the steering wheel, and seat bolsters. Extending the picnic tables also reveals kingfisher hide on their upper surface.

A Mulliner key box comes in Mandarin and Imperial Blue hide with Imperial Blue Alcantara on the inside surfaces, offering security for jewels and other valuables. Bentley seat insignia are embroidered in Kingfisher, and contrast stitching throughout the interior is also done in the same hue. Mandarin stitching, outer binding, and Kingfisher micro piping are all included on the Imperial Blue overmats. Appropriately, the door treadplates have a custom-engraved "One of One" statement for the purchaser.

A factory option is now available for the two-tone exterior finish that was selected for this Bentayga EWB. This is just one of many instances where consumers have influenced the colour and trim options that the firm offers for its products. As for custom Mulliner commissions, they are becoming more and more popular; in 2023, almost 75% of the cars that left Bentley's Dream Factory in Crewe, England, included Mulliner content. This indicates a record-breaking 43% increase in Mulliner content over 2022, demonstrating the rising desire for upscale customisation throughout the Bentley range.
