Moncler x Alicia Keys: The spirit of late '90s Manhattan.

With the new Moncler x Alicia Keys collection, Alicia Keys takes us to a fantastical land. The designs, which are influenced by New York but created with a global audience in mind, convey the city’s confidence and brightness through oversized, 1990s-style cuts and bright colours. Alicia’s approach takes cues from both sexes to create an easily gender-neutral look.

Keys sees the skyscrapers of New York as the point where dedication and ambition meet. The spirit of late ‘90s Manhattan, a city that was a hub of optimism, pre-millennial expectation, and vibrant street style, heavily influenced the concept of the Moncler x Alicia Keys collection. Accessories like nylon bucket hats, cut halter tops, and shrunken shirts complement the bold, exuberant colours and oversized trackwear styles that are Alicia’s hallmark. The whole impression is one of bold, carefree sexuality and young assurance.

The collection’s advertising features a collision of viewpoints. Ibrahem Hasan’s first film, which features an all-star cast and iconic shots of the New York skyline, perfectly captures the spirit of the city. Alicia has drawn upon New York’s artistic population to round out her ensemble of young, aspirational protagonists since she sees them as the city’s greatest strength. Including a poet, musician, actress, and singer-songwriter, the cast is full with ambitious New Yorkers. The scene in which Keys and her neighbours swing high over the city’s tall buildings represents the importance of never giving up on your goals and aspirations. Photographer Laura Jane Coulson’s second campaign is a collection of candid, vibrant pictures that focus in on Alicia’s character and personality and expose us to Alicia Keys the designer.

Although Alicia Keys’s collection was unveiled for the first time at Moncler’s The Art of Genius event during London Fashion Week, the collection’s inspiration came from New York. Keys’s amazing live performance was elevated with the addition of Little Simz and Cleo Sol, both of London. These were the first performers to wear Alicia’s creations, and they represent innovation, strength, and greatness for Alicia.
