Introducing the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition

The Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition is the first Laureato watch with a green ceramic case and bracelet. It was made by Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux in collaboration. The two legendary brands, the Swiss maison and the British ultra-luxury label, have once again joined forces to produce a timeless masterpiece.

Although some cutting-edge components were incorporated into this new watch, the spirit of Girard-original Perregaux's Laureato (which means "Graduate" in English and was inspired by a film from the 1970s) has been preserved. There are only 388 and 188 of the 42mm and 38mm Laureato Green Porcelain Aston Martin Editions, respectively, so getting your hands on one is a surefire way to make a statement.

The Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition is a sleek, modern, and especially elegant take on the classic Aston Martin design. It takes cues from the car's powerful engines, aerodynamic bodywork, and lightweight construction. Because of this latter quality, Girard-Perregaux decided to equip their new timepiece with lightweight yet useful hour and minute hands in the shape of skeletonized 'batons. Aston Martin's original 'AM' logo, in use between 1921 and 1926, and the quilted leather interior of some of the brand's high-performance cars inspired the design of the watch's dial.

Like the Laureato, which has won the praise of design experts and watch enthusiasts for decades thanks to its classic good looks, Aston Martin has proven time and again that it can craft iconic forms with lasting appeal. Elegant, luxurious, and powerful are all characteristics shared by models ranging from the early 1960s DB4 to the current day Vantage.

Since the company's earliest days, Aston Martin has been synonymous with the colour green. This connection dates back to when the company raced in its national colours of British Racing Green. It wasn't until the Formula 1® era that Aston Martin settled on the now-iconic Aston Martin Racing Green for its racing vehicles. Therefore, it was only natural that this co-branded watch be clothed in green, a colour commonly associated with prosperity and vitality.

Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Girard-Perregaux, said: "From the outset, the design of the Laureato was distinctive, yet cohesive. Its styling encompassed geometric, clean-cut lines while exhibiting a slightly gentle character. Contrasting polished and satin finished surfaces, an ergonomic integrated bracelet and, of course, as always, an in-house movement… these are the essential ingredients which have made the Laureato a remarkable success. The same ingredients are much in evidence with the new Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition, along with the addition of an interesting, highly contemporary material."

Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, of Aston Martin, added: "Our goal was to conceive an advanced luxury product. Interestingly, Patrick and I spent a lot of time talking about the folklore of the Laureato and the design play between shape and proportion of its iconic bezel. When he shared GP’s exploration into the optical properties of technical ceramics, micro beads, and microns, I became quite enchanted by this idea of the past becoming the future. We’re always exploring combinations of technology, colour, and materials in Aston Martin sports cars to enrich performance, functionality, and owner enjoyment. Together, we’ve fused these ideas and attributes to generate this cool new Aston Martin GP Laureato".

In the same way that Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux both strive for greatness, they both create one-of-a-kind items with enduring quality and rarity in mind. This one-of-a-kind partnership started in 2021, and their newest product is the Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition. The new timepiece will debut in June 2023 and come in two sizes (42mm and 38mm) at select Girard-Perregaux boutiques around the globe.
