Following the introduction of the commanding outlines of the Square Big Bang Unico, Hublot is now presenting eight more special editions of the watch. The watchmaker has concentrated their efforts on two specific models in particular: the first is made of titanium, and the second is made of King Gold, which is an 18-carat gold alloy that also contains copper and platinum, giving it a redder colour than 5N gold. Each model is offered in a total of four distinct adjusting levels, providing users with a total of eight distinct options.

The bezel of the first tier is adorned with 44 white diamonds, weighing a combined total of 1.9 carats. After that, the second level is a more jewelled version, where the case is also paved with 138 white diamonds totaling 3.3 carats. This level is the most expensive of the three.

The objective of the third level is becoming increasingly obvious: a piece of jewellery. Because of this, the composition in question is referred to as “jewellery.” The setting is more detailed and intricate from a design standpoint. The bezel is covered in fifty baguette diamonds all the way around. The case is embellished with 94 diamonds, bringing the total weight of the diamonds to over 4 carats and bringing the total number of diamonds to 144 (4.4 carats precisely)

New heights have been reached on the fourth level. In comparison to the earlier iterations, this piece of so-called “high jewellery” exemplifies a stark and unmistakable shift in perspective. There are a total of 285 diamonds that are set into the case, and the bezel and dial are both completely set in diamonds, bringing the total weight to approximately 18 carats. Invisible setting is a technique used in jewellery where the claws holding the stones appear to disappear, producing the impression that they are simply and delicately put flush with the gold or titanium. This technique is used in each of the pieces that are made of white gold or King Gold. Each of the diamonds was chosen specifically for its substantial size in order to highlight the contours of the casing.

In this implementation of pure geometry, each diamond has a profile that resembles a combination of a rectangle and a trapezium, and it perfectly complements the square profile of the Big Bang. The tremendous attention that was taken with the hour-markers, the case flange, and the time counters, which are accented by 79 baguette diamonds, is particularly on display. The same meticulous attention to detail has been paid to the recognisable lugs that cover the Big Bang case, as well as the push-piece that is dedicated to the interchangeable bracelet and the folding clasp that it features (which has 30 baguette diamonds).

After the round shape and the barrel shape, the square shape was the only other geometric shape that the watchmaker had not yet worked with. Each of these variations confirms the Square Bang Unico’s uniqueness and distinctiveness as Hublot’s very first square watch. The square is an innovative addition to the family of geometric shapes. Collectors will recognise the Big Bang’s defining characteristics, such as the six screws on the bezel, the composite side pieces and bezel, the interchangeable rubber strap, and the fact that the Big Bang’s time markers and hands are superimposed on the watchmaker’s own Unico bicompax chronograph. However, at the same time, collectors will feel as though they are returning to familiar territory.

The look of the monochrome design is preserved in the titanium version, which has a brushed grey finish that allows the brilliant white of the diamonds to be reflected in the surface. Both the bold appearance of the case, which has cut-off sides, and the delicate appearance of the diamonds that are placed on it contribute to the contemporary and subtle style of the piece.

The King Gold edition exhibits a completely distinct visual style. It has a wider range of colours to choose from. The gold case stands in stark opposition to the black rubber strap, representing the collision of two different worlds that defined the beginning of the brand more than forty years ago. The brilliant white colour of the diamond stands out from the rest of this arrangement due to the fact that its presence has been highlighted. The bejewelled style is victorious, but the location is the highlight of the show. The Square Bang Unico is still formidable and cutting-edge, but it is now accompanied by a level of splendour that has never been seen before: a suit of light. It’s possible that some people will regard this as a means to lessen the impact of its presence on the wrist. Others, on the other hand, will see more pronounced lines as a result of the rows of diamonds that highlight the outlines of the object.

At the end of the day, each person will imbue it with their own unique personality.
