Guests are Taken on a Journey into Wellness.

Safaris, which derive from the Swahili word for "journey," are frequently linked to the Serengeti's legendary animal encounters. This year, guests at the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti's Kani Spa can take part in a brand-new kind of safari: a journey into wellness that reaffirms the crucial role that personal and societal health play in society. In one of the most renowned wildlife parks in the world, Kani Spa dives deep into nature reconnection with activities like energising dawn mindful meditation sessions and the spiritually nourishing Ubuntu Ritual.

“Exploring wellness as a journey offers a chance for both guests and therapists to come back to basics, revisiting and refining all those practises that make us whole,” says Islam Mahmoud, the new manager of the Kani Spa Serengeti, who brings more than two decades of international industry experience. “From nourishing the self to improving our community ties, we're all learning together how wellness can ripple out to impact the health of entire societies.”

As a licenced holistic therapist, Islam makes use of both his innate understanding of true wellness and his leadership abilities—he was in charge when the spa at the Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano won "Best Spa in Egypt" at the International Spa Awards in 2018 and 2019 — to make certain that each spa experience is centred on restorative and energising effects. Visitors are guided on a journey into wellbeing that is unlike anything they may have experienced before thanks to the use of potent botanicals that are gathered in harmony with nature, indigenous wisdom, and ancient methodologies.

João Santos, a dry massage therapist who has developed his own method after a lengthy career mixing many schools of bodywork, will be returning to Kani Spa Serengeti for the month of July 2023 as a guest practitioner. Joao is available for consultations and uses his intuition and extensive understanding of anatomy and physiology to enhance his clients' spiritual and physical well-being.

Kani Spa also provides heart-centered mindfulness and meditation activities as a way to start a health journey with effects that have been demonstrated to last a lifetime. When practitioners take constructive action "off the mat" and into the community, these not only increase personal pleasure and well-being but also give larger advantages to society. The Serengeti sun awakens the savannah, and Lodge guests may join it with an energising morning mindfulness breathing practise or wind down as it melts over the horizon with a sunset meditation session. Nothing compares to Kani Spa's sunset for a profound return to nature. 75-minute The Lodge's hallmark health experience, Sunset Kopje Meditation, involves guests hiking along a Maasai route to a sunset kopje (hilltop) where they participate in a guided meditation while taking in the expansive vistas of the plains.

Every journey towards wellbeing inside Kani Spa's tranquil, natural surroundings is supported by its distinctive treatments, which draw inspiration from local knowledge and old traditions. One of the most well-liked is the Tree of Life Journey, which takes its cues from the baobab tree of Africa, which may survive for more than a thousand years. This 120-minute treatment starts with a body exfoliation using rooibos, kigelia, and baobab oil. Next, an invigorating massage using energising citrus essential oils in sumptuous shea butter and baobab nuggets follows. The 90-minute four-handed divine Ubuntu ("I am, because you are") Ritual, which honours unity and collaboration, is also in high demand. It uses neroli, baobab, and wheatgerm oils.

TheraNaka and Kani Spa collaborate to bring guests the "beauty of Africa" by using raw materials that are sourced from small suppliers who support organic certification and sustainability. All of the ingredients are also Ubuntu Natural and Fairtrade certified, ensuring fair supply chains, a commitment to biodiversity conservation, social and regulatory equity, and green technology.

Each and every health adventure goes well beyond Kani Spa at Four Seasons Safari Lodge, which is located in the centre of one of the planet's most valuable and vulnerable environments. The Lodge makes a concerted effort to provide assistance for the amazing creatures that frequent its surroundings because it understands that human health depends on the health of the natural environment.

It supports community and animal conservation initiatives including the Serengeti De-Snaring Project and Rhino Conservation Project as part of its reputation as an award-winning responsible tourism provider. During their stay, visitors are invited to participate in the activities offered by the staff at the on-site Exploration Centre.

The lodge is also devoted to acting as a responsible member of the community; as such, it supports and helps run a Safe House in Mugumu that offers sanctuary to young women who are at danger of female genital mutilation. Also, almost 75% of the Lodge's suppliers are from Tanzania, and 90% of the items in the Lodge's Boutique are from Eastern and Southern Africa, with a concentration on goods made by social entrepreneurs. The Lodge also provides internships and visits to college students from the area to aid in the development of local talent.
