Damen Yachting: #loveouroceans

Now in its sixth year, Damen Yachting’s “Love Our Oceans” campaign aims to raise awareness about the need to protect the world’s oceans. Initially, it was an open invitation to crew members and fleet ambassadors from Damen Yachting fleet vessels to contribute photos and write about their time at sea. The point was to show that the ocean can be a source of creativity in many contexts, including the office and the playground. As incredible as all of the new information is, it might be tough to believe that the images are authentic.

To deepen the concept of “loving our waters,” Damen Yachting is expanding on it today. This is being done for the obvious reason that many people are worried about the shipyard’s and industry’s efforts to keep the world’s waterways safe.

The ocean is the engine of our planet.
Without it, there would be no life on
Earth. Let that thought sink in for a
moment, and then, commit to doing
everything you can to keep it alive.

Further details regarding Damen Yachting’s efforts to aid Mother Nature and the oceans in their recovery will be made public this year. All of Damen Yachting’s efforts are motivated by their shared love of the oceans, shared by both employees and clients.

They have an army of extraordinary brand representatives that fight for clean water in the oceans throughout the globe. The owner of the Damen AXIS, Carl Allen, has made it his duty to fund humanitarian excursions and bring attention to the problem of plastic waste, to mention only a few instances. Similarly, the man behind the expansion of the BAD COMPANY fleet and the owner of the Amels 180 Limited Editions Gene Chaser and Gene Machine have taken on this task.

Being the largest and most defining
ecosystem on our planet, the problem
is perhaps that humans, being
terrestrial creatures, might not be
able to fully comprehend the scope
and scale of its importance to our
survival. With my photos, I try to
remind us that although we live on
land, we are after all, ocean creatures.

As the number of Damen Yachting vessels grows, so does the number of owners who want to spread their love of the sea and their dedication to sustainable practises. Their stories will be told, as will the unique goals of the scientists, charities, academics, activists, designers, and artisans who have been working tirelessly to make this a reality while still protecting the environment. Every year, a group of daring bikers raises money for the Blue Marine Foundation and its ocean conservation activities by taking on the daunting seven-day challenge of riding from London to Monaco. This year, Damen Yachts plans to send a team of eight cyclists to the event in an effort to raise awareness about the ocean.

The Blue Marine Foundation puts the money it raised on the London to Monaco bike ride towards protecting some of the ocean’s most threatened ecosystems by funding the creation of large marine reserves and more environmentally friendly fishing practices there.
