Cierto Tequila: Pure, Natural True Tequila

Cierto Tequila launches in the United States. It is a premium collection of award-winning, 100% authentic tequilas free of additives. Cierto will roll out nationwide throughout 2023 after initially debuting in California, Florida, Texas, New York, Illinois, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and Delaware. Cierto is tequila produced the way nature and time intended, by highly regarded Master Distillers Enrique Fonseca and Sergio Mendoza, fourth and fifth generation agaveros (agave farmers).

The Spanish word “Cierto,” which means “True,” perfectly describes this pure, elegant tequila that was painstakingly made using a special fusion of time-honoured and internationally-inspired distilling methods. Cierto is bottled in a gemstone-inspired bottle to highlight the tequila’s rich, natural hues and is entirely free of additives or impurities.

Cierto is a high-quality product that starts with estate-grown, fully mature agave from the beautiful Jalisco Highlands that was hand-picked and picked at just the right time. At the fabled La Tequilea distillery in Tequila, the agave is then cut by hand, cooked gently, and distilled in alembic copper pot stills and Coffey column stills.

The majority of Cierto’s aged tequilas are aged in rare French Limousin oak barrels that were previously filled with premium wines and spirits, such as cognac and Armagnac. These casks were specifically chosen for their capacity to subtly induce the agave’s essence to emerge. The Fonseca family’s secret collection, which contains some of the oldest and rarest tequilas in existence, is used to blend each expression with aged tequilas. Tequila aficionados and spirits experts alike consider the resulting collection of tequilas to be among the best in the world due to its luxuriously smooth and pure-tasting characteristics.

Todd Chaffee, Chairman of Elevated Spirits and a Forbes Midas List venture capitalist, chose to disrupt the tequila business in 2017 by creating the finest tequila in the world—a real tequila that was 100% pure and additive-free while also being incredibly smooth and easy to drink. During his study of the tequila industry, Mr. Chaffee found that Mr. Mendoza was a key figure in explaining the differences between “real tequilas” and “fake tequilas,” which are made with artificial ingredients. “When I first met Sergio, I was impressed by his extensive knowledge of the Highlands’ terroir, agave plants, distilling techniques, and the history of the entire tequila industry. We are incredibly blessed to have Sergio and his uncle Enrique Fonseca as our partners. Since they are both agaveros and master distillers, they have truly unique perspectives on the best ways to grow and harvest agave in addition to crafting world-class tequilas,” said Chaffee.

After blending and tasting hundreds of options from the Fonsecas’ large collection of aged tequilas, which they shared with family and friends while doing in-depth market research, the Cierto team came up with eight great Cierto agave expressions.

When the research results were overwhelmingly positive, the Cierto team started entering the Cierto portfolio in prestigious international spirits contests to get feedback and recognition from the most discerning and well-known palates in the world. The outcomes have been astounding, with Cierto taking first place in every significant contest. With over 600 international medals and awards to date, Cierto is the most awarded tequila in history. Each of the eight agave expressions has received dozens of medals and awards.

Cierto has assembled a group of seasoned business executives with the assistance of Demeter & Co., under the leadership of Jeff Menashe as CEO and Jim Clerkin as its Chairman. Jim Ruane is an experienced spirits executive and Cierto’s chief growth officer. He has worked in marketing and the beverage industry for almost 20 years. “We are thrilled to debut Cierto Tequila, bringing this remarkable award-winning spirit to U.S. drinkers,” said Ruane. “Cierto is a testament to the true art of tequila-making. With skyrocketing growth in luxury tequila and consumers paying increasing attention to what they’re putting into their bodies, we see an opportunity to differentiate with a supreme liquid that speaks for itself—no additives, no artifice, and no shortcuts.”
