“Balancing Gorgeous Spaces for Interaction, Entertainment, and Family Time..."

The Japanese word for "cherry blossom" is "Sakura." The everlasting natural icon of Japan inspired the naming of this 71.76-metre Feadship, which has a diesel-electric propulsion system and a sleek, organic design. She is currently for sale at the shipyard and is expected to be delivered in May 2025.

Studio De Voogt's sleek exterior style for the Sakura is instantly recognised yet quietly relaxing; it was influenced by the basic yet refined lines of Feadship's Purity concept. The outside is well-proportioned and at home on the sea, with a sundeck that extends forward and a swimming pool that stretches back 7 metres.

The expansive interior design for Sakura by the Italian company FM Architettura d'Interni draws inspiration from the Japandi style, which combines the cosiness and practicality of Scandinavian design with the austerity and minimalism of Japanese architecture to evoke a sense of art, nature, and simplicity. By fusing form and function and putting an emphasis on clean lines, open floor plans, and light colours, the East meets West design trend is a great complement to the building's façade.

“We set out to build a yacht that captures the intimacy of a 71.76-metre yacht with the functionality and spaciousness of a much larger yacht,” says Maarten Janssen, Feadship’s Sales Director. “Balancing gorgeous spaces for interaction, entertainment, and family time with sophisticated rooms for individual reflection and retreat, Sakura is a unique opportunity for a client looking for quick delivery of a brand new Feadship in this specific size bracket.”

Sakura's high pilothouse allows for a private owner's deck, which is unusual for a yacht of her size, while yet keeping her profile low and graceful. The master suite is located in front of the ship, with its own private breakfast nook and hot tub accessible from the side deck. The ceiling-to-floor glass windows allow for 360-degree panoramas. The open aft patio may be set up for al fresco dining for a full complement of guests, while the sky lounge can function as a media room for the whole family to enjoy a movie in. You'll find every convenience here in extraordinary settings.

The maritime way of life has evolved and is still evolving. More family-oriented and intergenerational gatherings are taking place. In keeping with this shift, the current generation of Feadships prioritises the main deck aft above the sun deck as the primary gathering area. The main deck of the Sakura is encircled by floor-to-ceiling glass windows, allowing an abundance of natural light to flood the interior and making the most of Feadship's unparalleled experience in glass building. There are no stairs or ledges leading from the interior to the open aft deck and swimming pool with sun loungers on either side. The enormous swim platform that is a defining feature of the Sakura is accessed from the outside through teak stadium stairs.

To make the most of the ship's larger beam and more expansive windows, all six guest bedrooms and two VIP suites are located on the main deck. In the event that the yacht is chartered, the two forward VIP suites may be combined into a single full-beam suite through a connecting sliding door, thus producing a second owner's cabin.

The wellness area of the Sakura is located at the stern, making it convenient for all passengers to use and only a few steps away from the swim platform. The engine room corridor and the wellness area are both accessible by a button that opens the teak stadium steps. The property owner has the option of transforming this area into a fitness centre, sauna, or massage parlour. It would be perfect for a dive shop because of its proximity to the diving platform. The remainder of the lower deck is devoted to the crew quarters, hotel amenities with additional cold and dry stores, and the diesel-electric engine, which is a unique design element.

Feadship has been at the forefront of research into how to construct eco-friendly yachts by providing future-proof propulsion systems ever since the debut of the 83.50-metre Savannah in 2015. Sakura will have a powerful diesel-electric propulsion system with generators attached to electric thrusters that meet IMO Tier III standards. In addition to drastically lowering fuel consumption and engine noise, the system is designed to be backed by other energy sources in the future, ensuring that Sakura will continue to be at the forefront of yachting for years to come.
